World's smallest car to make comeback

Wednesday August 25 2010

The world's smallest car is set to make a comeback thanks to new investment from Dragons' Den tycoon James Caan. The Peel P50, made famous when Jeremy Clarkson drove one through BBC headquarters in an episode of Top Gear, is a three-wheeled micro car measuring just over one metre wide and 1.3 metres long. Production of the P50 sadly ended in the 1960s; however, two entrepreneurs, Faizal Khan and Gary Hillman, purchased the Peel company a few years back and have since been producing electric-engined replicas of the tiny car. Caan has invested almost €100k in Peel, which has netted him a 30 percent stake in the business and will be used to promote and re-launch the brand around the world. Peel's new owners are hoping to initially produce a limited run of 50 P50s and take it from there. The company has started taking orders from aspiring owners, so if you're on the market for something easy to park, this is the car for you!
