Sligo hosts world’s top darts players
Some of the world’s top darts players will be in Sligo this week-end for a prestigious six nations tournament.
Among those taking part in the event are World champion, Martin Adams, ladies World number one, Trina Gulliver, World number one, Tony O’Sheda and former World Champion, John Boy Walton.
The tournament, which is run by the Irish Darts Organisation, takes place at the Best Western Sligo Southern Hotel on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Mens and ladies team representing the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and Holland will take part in the competition.
Local player, Sean McGowan, is on the Irish team while the Irish team manager is Sligo’s Paul Fox.
The tournament gets under way at 7.30pm on Friday with the ladies competition while the men go into action on Saturday, commencing at 10.30am. The play-offs, semifinals and finals take place on Sunday.
