FRANCIS MCCANN was the surprise recipient of a club presentation in the Ballymote Handball Club last Friday evening.
Boxing Finals Judge
Manorhamilton woman Martha Mcguinness, who is a member of the Seán Mcdermott Boxing Club, has been acting as a judge at the national senior boxing championships that have commenced at the National Stadium in Dublin and which will continue until the boxing championships finals conclude in early February.
Rosses Point Duathlon event is on next month
SLIGO TRIATHLON Club 2012 open race season starts with the Rosses Point Duathlon on Saturday, 10th March at 12pm. This race will be a great performance tester for anyone preparing for the upcoming season, and to see if the winter training has paid off. The course will be based on a similar course to the Rosses Point Sprint Triathlon, so it is definitely recommended for those of you giving that a go this year. This event is open to all clubs and is sanctioned by Triathlon Ireland. The club hopes to make this a regular event on the Triathlon Ireland calender.
Intense competition
CO. SLIGO Swim Club's National team consisted of Jade Murphy, Lisa Gerrity, Shona Keaveney, Ronan Anderson, Peter Mooney, Keith Mullen, Daire Mccloskey, and Ciaran Mccloskey. All these swimmers did a great job competing against Irelands best!
Making a big splash for medals
THIS IS definitely a gala that Sligo should return to on a yearly basis. 106 personal best times were swam by 34 swimmers! Sligo had seven different relay teams earn medals.

All Stars keep their League hopes alive
THE FIRST "A" MATCH in the North West League was a particularly important game for Sligo All Stars U.16s, as they needed a win against Donegal in order to keep their chances alive to qualify for the All-ireland later this year.
A dramatic final
THE WINTER league of the North Sligo Racquetball Club ended in a dramatic final clash between the teams of Gerry Horgan and Barry O Sullivan. As in all good finals it went right down to the wire with O'sullivans team emerging victorious.
