COOLANEY-MULLINABREENA: Our Intermediate side lost out to Tourlestrane last Saturday in the Benson Cup on a score line of 0.11 to 0.8. We play Curry in the final round of the Benson cup next Sunday. Well done to Kieran Finan who made to Sligo Senior panel of 24 players that made the trip to Wexford for the national league game last Sunday.

A medal presentation took place last Sunday evening in St. Nathy’s Hall, Mullinabreena. County and club player Barry Kivlehan presented the U-12 team with their medals whilst County player Adrian Marren presented the U-16 side with their medals. Assistant chairman John Marren addressed the large crowd of parents, families and supporters. He paid tribute to all the players, their coaches and their parents for all the effort expended throughout the last year and hoped for further success to come. Best wishes to club player Brendan Coleman and the Sligo U-21 team as they take on Galway in the Connaught championship on March 17th.The minor game against Ballymote/Bunninadden has been refixed for Wednesday March 17th.

Best wishes to St. Attractas in the Connaught Colleges B final next Saturday March 13th. They play St. Louis of Kiltimagh at 1pm in Charlestown. Our club is very well represented with seven players on the panel namely: Cian O’Dowd, Enda Kivlehan, Raymond Connolly, Criostoir Davey, Conor Gorman, Eoghan O’Dowd and Michael Healy. Good luck to Summerhill in the A final on the same day. St. Nathy’s ladies football club are holding a table quiz in Kennedy’s lounge, Doocastle.

COOLERA-STRANDHILL

Our seniors are away to Ballymote in Corran Park. Throw in at 5pm, Coolera are at home to Owenmore Gaels in Ransboro at 12pm, The minors are at home to Calry St Jospehs in Round 4 of the leage Congratulations to Lukes Bree who was part of the DCU team that won the sigerson cup last weekend against UCC and also in their win in the o'byrne cup final last weekend over Louth, Luke played a great game against Meath in the O'Byrne cup semi-final and he has just been awarded an Elite athlete sport scholarship with the Sports academy in DCU.

WOW FactorThe club are hosting the Wow Factor with €1000 in prizemoney with up to 15 acts participating on the 1st night.We have 4 acts representing the Ransboro /Strandhill area to date including Graham & Anthony Kelly,Fergus Mc Gloin and Coolera Dramatic Soceity.

Tickets for the heat night go on sale this week from commitee members for what promises to be a great nights entertainment. Indoor hurling continues each Fri. 7-8pm at the IT Sligo sports complex. Newcomers welcome. Go Games this Friday evening 12th March in I T Sligo Sports Hall from 6pm to 8pm, catering for both boys and girls.All children between 6-12 year olds are welcome to attend. All Membership is registered on line this year .Closing date for all Registration is 31st March 2010.Anyone who has not yet paid membership are to do so as soon as possible.

CUMANN NA MBUNSCOL

The fixtures booklets will be arriving to schools within the next week and we would encourage all schools to take advantage of the good weather and start playing matches before Easter, if possible. With Round 1 of the Mini 7 competition completed, schools should note that the 2nd round games must be played by St. Patricks Day with the final scheduled to take place before the Easter holidays. The Annual Cumann na mBunscol table quiz, sponsored by CJ

Fallon, will take place at the Teeling Centre, Collooney, on Friday the 12th March at 7.30pm. Schools are permitted to submit a maximum of 3 teams at the cost of 10 euro per team. The Indoor Hurling Final will take place on Sunday 14th March at 10.30am in the Teeling Centre, Collooney.

Cumann na mBunscol Shligigh would like to extend congratulations to long serving committee member John Hughes on being awarded a GAA Presidents Award. This is the seventh year that the GAA Presidents awards have been presented to members of the association who have made outstanding contributions to the GAA in their respective areas, and it is due recognition for John, who has done trojan work for the GAA at school, club and county level.

John will recieve his award at an event in Croke Park, following the AIB All-Ireland Club Championship finals on St. Patricks Day.

DROMAHAIR LADIES

Training for the U8s/U10s and U12s/U14s will commence this Saturday morning, March 13th in Killargue Hall. U8s and U10 training will take place from 10.30am to 11.30am and U12s and U14 training will take place from 11.30am to 12.30. All players are required to attend.

Leitrim Ladies GAA are intending to run the following courses, but only if an adequate number of participants are interested: Referees (Beginners) - 1 day; Referees (Refresher Course) - 1 day; Fundamentals Coaching - 1 day; and Level 1 Coaching - 2 Days (Participants must have completed Fundamentals Course).

Registration evening took place last Sunday evening in the park. Anyone that hasn’t paid their registration, please pay Erin as soon as possible. Our new Children's Officer, Siobhan Ballantyne, got to meet and talk to club members, and she will meet all parents and children again on the first day of each underage training

DROMAHAIR

Last Friday night our club took to the stage in Ballinaglera for the first round of the Senior Scor Competition. We had a strong entry this year taking part in four different categories. These were solo singing, ballad group, music group and recitation. Unfortunately although all our competitors performed very well we were only successful at getting through in the music group category.

Congratulations to our music group of Niamh Fowley, Brid Donoghue, Noel McMahon, Sean Conlan and Stephen McInerney who go on to represent our club in the County Final Next Saturday night in Mohill at 7.0pm. All support would be welcome. Thanks to our other competitors Anna Conlan, Emer McDermott, Pauline Egan and Deidre McDermott for all the time and hard work in preparing for the competition.

DRUMCLIFFE-ROSSES POINT

Drumcliffe/Rosses Point Senior Men play Eastern Harps this weekend in the Kiernan Cup in 12 noon Fr. Kevin Brehony Park this weekend. Drumcliffe/Rosses Point Ladies start there 2010 campaign on the 21st of March opposition to be finalised. Training continues Tuesdays at 8pm and Saturday mornings at 11:30. All newcomers are welcome please contact Hugh Slevin 086-0524629. We play Manorhamilton this Saturday at 11am in Oxfield players are asked to be there at 10:15. Club underage coaching will continue on Saturday Morning usual times. Hurling coaching continues every Tuesday night in Oxfield at 7 PM.

U-16 Training will take place this Wednesday 10th Mar at 7.30pm in Oxfield. League commences with game vs Curry on Sunday 14 Mar at 11.00am in Oxfield. Scór - congrats to Noelle Carroll, Eammon Bell, Elsa Kelly, Ted Kelly in winning the Grúpa Ceoil in Gurteen they are now in the Connacht Final and in the Table Quiz who came second Geraldine Gibbons, Gery Greamer, Tony Hallissy and to Maureen Mannion who did very well in the singing Competion. GAA Lotto another year has commenced and our Lotto will be starting up very soon and we ask all to dig deep to support the club tickets can be purchase from all club executives and tickets sellers in the area. GAA VHI Cul Camps run from the 12TH -16TH OF July in Oxfield.

HURLING COACHING COURSE

The Mayo Hurling Coach Education Workgroup invite coaches to an Award 1 (Youth) Hurling & Camogie Coaching Course over the coming weeks. The course will be run over four nights commencing on Monday 8th March in the McHale Park Suite, Castlebar from 7.00 until 10.30. The subsequent nights are: Wednesday 10th March, Monday 15th March and Thursday 18th March. All sessions take place between 7.00 and 10.30 in the McHale Park Suite in Castlebar. The cost of the course is Euro50.

The course is available to coaches who have undertaken the Foundation Award Course within past three years, and who wish to advance their hurling coaching qualifications. The course is targeted at Youth coaches, who coach in the U13 to Minor age bracket. All clubs and schools in the Mayo/Sligo area are invited to inform suitable applicants. GEEVAGH

Tomás O’Shea was the special guest at the clubs annual dinner dance in Cromleach Lodge recently. Club Chairman Timmy McGrath made presentations to our special guest Tomás O’Shea, John Murphy, Chairman County Board, Cyril Feehily Vice Chairman, Ted Maloney, Chairman Ladies Board and Roger Keenan Coaching Officer Ulster Council. Presentations were also made to Pat Hughes and Bernice Byrne to mark their nominations for the Sligo sports awards. The club wishes to congratulate Christy & Moira, management and staff of Cromleach Lodge on winning the Connaught Wedding Venue of the Year.

Presidential award: Congratulations to John Hughes on his selection for a GAA Presidential award. John has been the backbone of Gaelic games in the parish both at school and club level and this award is recognition of the trojan work he has done and continues to do in the community. John will travel with family and friends to pick up his award at a Gala function in Croke Park on 16th March.

Tom Lavin was elected Club Chairman at this months meeting following Timmy McGraths election to Connacht Council. We wish Tom and Timmy well in their new positions. A sport table quiz in aid of Bord na nÓg is being held in Paddy’s bar Geevagh on Friday night 26th March. Sligo Senior Ladies will play Kildare on Saturday March 13th in Geevagh. Geevagh has seven girls on the team. A member of the team will present medals to our 2009 winning underage girls teams following the game.

Our senior men play their final game in the Pick & Choose league on Saturday 13th March away to Bunninadden. U16 boys: Our U16 boys have their first outing of the year away to Enniscrone/Kilglass on Sunday morning 14th March at 10.30am. We urgently require help with the running of the boys’ U12 and U16 teams. If you would be available to manage or help out with the running of any of these teams please contact any member of the executive.

Membership for 2010 is now due and all players must have paid, otherwise they will be unable to train or play. Fitness for Fun classes continue on Mondays in Geevagh Community Resource Centre from 8 to 9pm. The cost for GAA club members is only €3 and €5 for non-members per night. ST. FARNAN’S

Saturday night last, St. Farnan’s represented West Sligo in three competitions of Senior Scor which was hosted in Gurteen by the Eastern Harps club. Our cultural officer, Frances Hanley, together with Martin Mulligan and Kieran O’Connor made up the quiz team and were dramatically beaten in a tie breaker by the Grange club. Sean Kilgannon represented the club very well in recitation. Well done to Sean and Teresa Dunne who produced and took part in the novelty act which won first place and who will represent Sligo in the Connacht finals in Loughrea on March 20th. Alongside Sean and Teresa on the stage were Frances Hanley, Emer Connolly, Bernie Mullarkey and unavoidably absent was Rory Kelly who will join the cast for the trip to Loughrea. Well done to all and to Frances Hanley for her continued work in promoting Scor.

The club extends sincere sympathy to the families of Eileen James, Packie Kearns and Eugene Curley, all who died recently. Ar dheas De go mbeidh a anam dilis. St. Farnan’s minors maintained their unbeaten record in the league with a 2-17 to 0-13 win over neighbouring club Easkey on Sunday morning in St. Farnan’s Park. St. Farnan’s: P Harte, P Ruane, M Culkin, J Flynn, J McGowan, K Hynes, G Ryan, D Culkin, M Mulligan, S Feeney, A Kilgannon, C O’Connor and L Ryan Subs: N Hynes, D Hynes, N Higgins, E McGowan U-12 training will commence on Thursday, 25th March at 6pm in the park. Sean Weir has kindly agreed to manage the U-12 team this year and he will be assisted by Kieran O’Connor and Ciaran O’Connor.

Peter Downs and his assistants Tommy Joe Cawley and Michael Liam Craine have commenced training with the U-14 team and there has been a great response to training. A hurling team managed by Sean Weir and Declan Scott had two great wins in the schools indoor hurling tournament on Friday night. Well done to the boys who participated. Eamon Kilgannon, Earla Connor, Caolan Gillen, James Weir, Shane Scott, Fergal Ryan and Patrick O’Connor.

ST. MOLAISE GAELS

Our senior team are away to St Mary’s in the final round of fixtures in Group B of the Kiernan Cup this Saturday March 13th at 5.00pm. On Sunday Next March 14th at 12.00pm our junior team entertain Cloonacool in the Abbott Cup at Monsignor Hynes Park. Our boys minor tam had a good win over Owenmore Gaels in the league at home on Sunday morning last. The monthly club meeting will take place in the Sports Complex on Thursday week March 18th at 9.00pm sharp.

Coaching for age groups U8 to U12 including girls has resumed on Saturday morning’s at Monsignor Hynes Park from 10.00am to 11.15am. For those who missed registration night forms will be available on Saturday morning.
