Sligo/ Leitrim in Niall McInerney Shield Action
Sligo U-16 hurlers combined with Leitrim to compete in the Niall McInerney Memorial Shield at Liam Mellowes GAA grounds last Saturday. John Mullins and Brian McCann were joined by Leitrim mentors Donie Quinn and Steve Feeney as 15 of the Sligo U-16 hurling squad plus 6 Leitrim players combined to take on Roscommon and Mayo U-16 squads and the home club’s minor team in this annual tournament at Renmore, Galway.
Historic Feile win for Sligo’s young hurlers
The Sligo U14 county hurlers won the Connacht hurling Feile recently. It is the first time the county’s history to win the Feile and it continues the rise of hurling within the Sligo. Backboned by the Feile Na Gael winning Naomh Eoin team who won the All Ireland competition and with a few good training sessions under their belts the team entered the feile in a positive frame of mind.

TOURLESTRANE: Pride of place this week goes to our u14 boys who won the County c title on Thursday last with a fantastic team performance. The management team were full of praise for all of the squad in the way the applied themselves to training all year and improved in every game culminating in a fantastic second half performance in the final to achieve their goal of a county title.
Armagh bring Sligo’s Rackard Cup hopes to an end
Armagh meant business from the throw in and won most of the puck outs in the first 15 minutes. Paul McCormack was off target with his first attempt but when he received a subsequent pass from Paul Breen he made no mistake and opened Armagh’s account with a well taken point. Breen’s long high ball somehow found the back of the Sligo net a few seconds latter.
Impressive hurlers reach Rackard Cup semi-final
Despite losing their opening game against London, Sligo hurlers have reached the semi-final of the Nicky Rackard Cup, courtesy of an impressive win over Louth at Pearse Park, Longford, on Saturday last.
Hurlers chase Rackard Cup glory
On what will be a huge weekend for Sligo GAA, the county’s hurlers will be hoping to stay on course for Rackard Cup glory when they take on Armagh in the semi-final of the All-Ireland competition at Breffni Park, Cavan, on Saturday (throw-in 5pm).

Sligo hurlers will be hoping to book their place in the semi-final of the Nicky Rackard Cup when they face Louth in Pearse Park, Longford on Saturday (Throw in 3.30pm).
Molloy’s hat-trick not enough for hurlers
A hat-trick of goals by Robert Molloy wasn’t enough to prevent Sligo hurlers from crashing to a defeat against London in their opening Rackard Cup game at Ruislip on Sunday last.
CUMANN NA mBUNSCOL FINALS ON SATURDAY
Finals Day: The Cumann na mBunscol Finals day games will commence at 11am on Saturday 12th June 2010 in Markievitz Park and run throughout the day. Teams who qualify for the finals day will receive a timetable in advance upon qualification for the final.
