Off and running at Sligo Races
SOME Of the country's leading jockeys and trainers will be at Sligo on Sunday for the first race meeting of the season at the scenic Cleveragh track.
A huge Bank Holiday crowd is expected for a seven race National Hunt card which promises to get the 2011 campaign off to a thrilling start.
There are three sponsored races on the card, supported by Kennedy's Bar, Sligo, Smirnoff, and the European Breeders Fund.
The first race is at 2.45pm and punters are asked to get to the track early. Free parking is available in the centre of the course and the bars and restaurant will be open from 1pm.
Races manager, Brian Kennedy, is anticipating a great year's racing at Sligo and believes Sunday's exciting card will set the trend for the year.

Racing in Sligo has gone from strength to strength in recent years and 2011 looks set to keep the trend going with a total of eight meetings on the fixture list.
The 2001 fixtures are: Sunday, May 1st, National Hunt; Monday, May 23rd (evening) National Hunt; Tuesday, June 28th (evening) Flat; Sunday, July 10th, National Hunt family day; Wednesday, August 3rd (evening), Flat; Thursday, August 4th (evening) National Hunt Ladies Day; Tuesday, August 16th, (evening) Flat; Wednesday, September 28th, National Hunt.
2011 admission charges are: Adults, €15, OAPs and students, €10. There is no admission charge for children.Special group rates and packages are available on request.
