Sligo Pitch n’Putt: Finals holes of competition

The final 36 holes of the Rossespoint Golf Shop sponsored 72 Hole StrokeplayCompetition were played on Sunday last in very difficult windy conditionsand this was reflected in the scores returned. The leader after the first 36holes on a score of 9 under par, 99 was Steven Armstrong.
Steven kept hisnerve to finish the final 36 holes in three over par, leaving him with a 210 shottotal for the four rounds which was good enough to secure 1st place. Joe Langfinished in 2nd place, 2 strokes back with a four round total of 212. Joe was 4shots behind going into the final and did extremely well to pull back to withintwo of the leader in the very difficult conditions.
The prize for Best 18 Hole Nett went to Michael Gallagher who shot one ofthe few under par rounds of the day. Michael finished with an excellent roundof 2 under par, 52, to make it into the prizes for the second time in only hissecond competition since joining the club. The prize for Best 36 Hole Nettwent to David Moriarty, who finished with a 36 hole total of 111 shots. David’sconsistent play ensured that he did enough to fend off the challenge of theinform Gerry Mulligan, who finished just one stroke behind him with a 36hole score of 112.
Next week sees the start of the Don Harte Memorial Cup Singles MatchplayCompetition. We would ask that all players please be at the clubhouse no laterthan 9:50am to allow play to commence by 10am. If you cannot make it onSunday morning, please contact your playing partner to re-schedule thematch for another time. A list of the matches is posted on the notice board inthe clubhouse. The club is also seeking new players to compete incompetitions and anyone interested in joining can get details from theclubhouse or from any of the current players.
