Sligo Pitch n’Putt: Don Harte Memorial Cup
The first games of the group stages of the Don Harte Memorial Cup were played last Sunday morning. The first pairing saw Rory Mc Hugh pitted against Dave Moriarty. Dave took control of the match straight away by scoring 3 birdies in the first 3 holes. Dave went on to win the match 5 up.
Next off was previous competition winner, Stephen Armstrong against newcomer, John Nibbs. John took maximum points by winning 3 up. The inform Gerry Mulligan won 5 up against Kevin Barry. David Armstrong won his match 5 up against newcomer Murty Donnellan and John Rainey prevailed 4 up against James Noonan. The next round of matches will played this coming Sunday and we ask that all players be at the clubhouse by 9:50am at the latest. If you cannot make it on Sunday morning, please contact your playing partner to re-schedule the match for another time. A list of the matches is posted on the notice board in the clubhouse.
The Sligo Pitch & Putt Club Strokeplay Competition is also running and some very good scores were returned during the week and on Sunday morning. The best score returned so far was carded by 0 handicapper, Rory Mc Hugh. Rory shot a 3 under par front nine and a 4 under par back nine to sign for a bogey free round of 7 under par 47. His round included birdies on the two most difficult holes, 11 and 14. The next best score returned was by Dave Moriarty who carded a 5 under par 49. John Nibbs, John Rainey, James Noonan and newcomers, Murty Donnellan and James Donnellan all returned scores of 4 under par 50. Scores can be entered for this competition during the week and
