Winter League: Round 6 of the winter league took place over the last weekend, and with 3 more rounds to go, there are still plenty of pairings in with a chance of qualifying for the final.
Section A: There is plenty of experience and no small amount of ability coming to the fore in Section A, with Dermot Flynn / John Hewitt and Tony Wasylocha / Paul Coughlan both level at the top on 15 points after posting excellent wins over the weekend. Hot on their heels are Brian Travers and Kevin Torsney on 13 points, with Niall and Andy Kearns just behind them on 10 points. With 3 matches to go, and with the top two pairings still to face each other, Paul Mcgonagle / Colin Diamond and Joe Mcgourty / John Scanlon could still yet qualify for the final, so there's plenty of golf left to play in this section.
Section B: With leaders Ciaran and Kevin Cryan having a bye this week, Michael Flynn and Niall Walsh took the opportunity to draw level at the top of Section B on 12 points with a hard fought win over John Joe Jinks and Gerry Teague, although the match was only settled on the 18th green. Damian Mcgoldrick and Declan Feeney are right behind the leaders on 10 points after their win on Sunday morning, with David Kennedy and Peter Carr next on 9 points. Paul Mullen / John Sexton and Eoin Carroll / Mark Kelly are well in the mix on 6 points
Section C: Fergus and John Torsney have moved into pole position in Section C on 12 points, with Merv Keegan / Nils Niemeyer and Martin Burke / Thomas Kelly in joint second on 9 points. James Fallon / D Scanlon and Kevin Conlon / Dave Donovan are next on 6 points, but almost every team could still actually qualify from this very close group, so its still all to play for.
Council Meeting: There will be a meeting of the Golf Club Council on February 15th at 8.00pm. All Council members are asked to attend.
The 4th round of the Junior Winter League took place on Sunday afternoon & with only James Carroll missing with an injured arm there was a strong field & some excellent golf on display.
Sean Carroll & Tomas Little continued their fine run of form with another win over the pairing of Luke Sherlock & Conor Carroll. Thomas Keaveney & Darragh Connolly also notched up another good victory over Patrick Callaghan & Fergal Colleary. Aaron Keaveney & Daire Kearns recorded their 1st win of the competition over Conor Burke who played well on his own but could'nt quite keep pace with his opponents.
The League Table is posted on the notice board & the final round will be played on either Thursday 16th or Friday 17th February, confirmation to follow nearer the time.

Seabreeze Bar & Restaurant Winter League Group A: Walsh/tivnan can still top the section and are qualified for the final along with Scanlon/conlon. Wehrly/fox, Mcnally/martyn and the Kilbrides will fight it out for the last spot.
Group B: White/glynn and Logan/o'donoghue are assured of a place in the final while Monaghan/conlon will go head to head with Collins/devaney for the last qualifying spot.
Group C: Only the Basquilles are guaranteed a final spot here with five teams still in with a shout of claiming a final place.
Group D: Hickey?feeney are home and hosed here. Gannon/cunningham will join them in the final with the third spot to be decided.
Group E: Deignan/timbs and Lindsay/o'hara are safe but the last spot could go to any one of three teams who are still contending.
Group F: Only Mcmorrow/leonard are qualified from this very tight group. Remarkably, five other teams will fight for the other two spots on the final day.
Group G: The O'beirne brothers can plan for the final, but we don't know yet who will be joining them. Four other teams can still claim a realistic hope of making it.
The draw for the Final proper and the B and C finals will take place as soon as all the results are in next Sunday. It is very important that any team who are in a potential tie situation in their section return a scorecard as scores on the final day may be used to seperate teams finishing with equal numbers of points. As usual the Winer League final proper will take place over thirty six holes played on two successive Sundays. The B and C finals will be 18 hole affairs, with the C final on the first final Sunday and the B final the following week.
