Strandhill Golf Club: Good turnout for Lady Captain’s Day
Despite inclement weather conditions a large number of ladies turned out to play for Lady Captain Breeges beautiful prizes, great scores were returned and the winner with a fine score was Maxie Slowey with 66nett.
Sligo Pitch n’Putt: Don Harte Memorial Cup
The first games of the group stages of the Don Harte Memorial Cup were played last Sunday morning. The first pairing saw Rory Mc Hugh pitted against Dave Moriarty. Dave took control of the match straight away by scoring 3 birdies in the first 3 holes. Dave went on to win the match 5 up.
Castle Dargan Golf Club: High scoring during Open Week
Open week at Castle Dargan came to a close on Sunday last with the staging of the Wassies Chipper Single stableford competition. There was a good turn out of members and visitors over the week and all enjoyed the quality of both the course and the resort. Although the weather was both windy and wet at times it did not take away from the scoring with some remarkable cards returned daily.

In one of the closest Captain’s Days in years,Mick McCabe emerged victorious in testingconditions at Strandhill GC last Saturdaythanks to a tremendous final nine of 31 nett.Only four shots separated the 21 qualifierswho headed out in the evening for the shootout,and in the end only three shotsseparated the top-10 finishers.
