Lady Captain Breege Scanlon started off proceedings with an excellent strike of the ball, Then the Gents Captain Padraic Hurley split the fairways with a precision tee shot up the first fairway, and also the new President Sean Henry steps up to the Tee and Hits another noble shot up the fairway.

Castle Dargan Golf Club: Busy weekend in perfect conditions
Spring League. Last weekend saw large numbers of members and visitors playing Castle Dargan and enjoying the near perfect golfing weather.
Tubbercurry Golf Club: Great turnout for Captains’ drive-in
The Captains Drive in took take place on Sunday 7th March, Lady Captain Anne Conlon and Men’s Captain Frank Durkin did the ceremonial Drive in at 12 noon. The Committee and Club would like to wish them both all the best for the coming Year.
Fixtures decimated by the weather
Unfortunately all competitions were cancelled last weekend due to the continuing ' big freeze'. The Wednesday Society outing scheduled for January 13th has been put back to wednesday the 20th. Hopefully next weekend will allow a return to action for a lot of frustrated golfers.
Taking a sporting chance
I've come to this conclusion on the basis of some crystal ball gazing exercises in the past which produced conclusive evidence that my predictions for the forthcoming year are unlikely to bear fruit in the next twelve months but could prove a bit prophetic further down the line. The strange phenomenon was gloriously revealed when I tipped Mon Mome to win the 2008 Aintree Grand National. In my predictions for that year, I suggested the following: 'Keep an eye out for Mon Mome, who ran a cracker in the Welsh National at Christmas.
