‘A TREMENDOUS DAY FOR SLIGO FOOTBALL’
Sligo County Board Chairman John Murphy described the All-Ireland Junior Championship Final victory over Kerry as "a tremendous day" for football in the Yeats County.
"This is only our second ever All-Ireland and I’m delighted, delighted for the lads and Kevin Walsh. They have put a lot of work in and while there wouldn’t be the same intensity in training as there was for the seniors, they did put a lot of good work into it and that was shown in the final in how they were controlled and particularly played well in the second-half ," he said.
"It’s a great day for Sligo. To win an All-Ireland at any level is a huge boost and I suppose the fact that Kevin stays now for another two years it seems to be working out pretty good for us," the Cathoirleach added.
