Tubbercurry firm wins InterTradeIreland prize

TUBBERCURRY-BASED manufacturing company O'hara's Gutters has been recognised by Intertradeireland for its commitment to innovation after taking part in the all-island technology transfer programme, FUSION.
The company, which manufactures plastic products for the agriculture, marine, healthcare and construction sectors, was commended for developing a new innovative product, expanding into new markets and increasing production efficiency.
Through Intertradeireland's FUSION programme, O'hara's Gutters was partnered with the North West Regional College in Derry and high calibre engineering graduate Marlene Spaans to transfer expertise and knowledge between the company and the college. As a result, O'hara's Gutters has significantly improved its technical expertise and capabilities, improved production efficiency, reduced material costs and introduced a culture of continuous improvement in productivity, recycling and energy efficiency.
The Intertradeireland FUSION project ran parallel to the company's own plans for reducing costs and increasing productivity - positioning O'hara's Gutters as a market forerunner in terms of technology and process advancement.

We have ambitious plans over the next three years which include increasing production levels at our manufacturing site and significant new product development," said Paddy O'hara, MD at O'hara's Gutters.
