Plans advanced for 24th South Sligo Summer School
Preparations for the 24th consecutive South Sligo Summer School in Tubbercurry are progressing apace. Dates for the 24th year are - Sunday July 11th to Saturday July 17th inclusive. Queries regarding the school from abroad are increasing daily and auger well for another successful week. As usual classes will be provided daily in the following: Fiddle, Flute, Button and Piano Accordeon, Tin Whistle, Bodhran, Traditional Guitar, Banjo, Concertina, Harp, Uilleann Pipes, Sean Nos and Traditional singing, Lilting, Sean Nos and Set Dancing. As well as these classes, Master Classes in the Sligo Music Style will be provided in - Fiddle, Flute and Tin Whistle.
South Sligo Summer School is firmly established on the International Irish Music Scene which appreciates the lovely warm welcome given to all comers along with the high calibre of teachers available. Many enquiries have already come in regarding who is to be honoured this year in the Tribute Concert which is now established for the Monday night.
As has become the norm over the years, eight Set Dancing Ceilis will take place during the week with all the top notch Set-Dancing Bands providing the music.
Accommodation, as always is keenly sought and any local who has accommodation to offer for week, Bed and Breakfast or self-catering should leave full details and charges in to the Office of Roger McCarrick, Auctioneer in Teeling Street as soon as possible. The list which Roger puts together from this information is circulated to all enquiries requesting same.
