No sign for Glencar waterfall

Wednesday March 10 2010

"We should make it as easy as possible for tourists to drive around our county and it should be obvious from National Primary routes where tourist sites are," Clr. Hubert Keaney told the March monthly meeting of Sligo County Council.

Clr. Keaney made his remarks while speaking on his motion calling on the council to ensure that all road signs were maintained and repaired or replaced if necessary, and that all

tourist sites were clearly signposted.

He said that, for example, there was no sign for Glencar Waterfall on the N16 at one particular road junction.

Senior Executive Engineer Seamus O'Toole said that road signs would continue to be maintained as best the council could "within the constraints of limited funding."

He said the area engineer would replace the missing sign for Glencar Waterfall as soon as possible.
