Need our voices to be heard in Dublin
AS QUESTIONS were open to the floor, one concerned parent, Kelly Benjamin, with a daughter in Curry N.S. asked the speakers what can parents do to stop the proposed cuts. Kevin Giblin responded by stressing the importance of making their voices heard.
"As a civil servant, I am serving the people, in my case the children. Your politicians are serving you; when they stood before you in the General Election they all promised change - was it a good change, that's what we have to answer.
"We have to let the people know in Dublin that we exist here in the Northwest. One producer from TV3 News contacted me about this meeting, they intended on coming to cover it. Then later I heard back that being three hours outside Dublin was just too far to send a cameraman... the problem is if you're three hours outside Dublin, it's just not their problem."
