Model's blog nominated for award
Wednesday March 10 2010
The Model is delighted to announce that their blog has been nominated for Best Arts and Culture blog in the Irish Blog Awards 2010. The Shortlist features some of Ireland's greatest arts blogs, but The Model's blog is the only arts centre to feature in the list.
The Model's blog is maintained by the Marketing Department (ie. Aoife Flynn and Denise Rushe) and the whole organisation contributes to articles to provide an all round view of how The Model operates from day to day. Recently it has been used as a primary online reference for The Model as a new website is under development.
When The Model are working on new projects or exhibitions they always ensure artists, groups and staff are involved in contributing something towards a blog post giving space to different voices within The Model, so for example our visual programme assistant Lara wrote recently about an exhibition tour she gave in Ballina Arts Centre, Young Model curator Linda wrote about a trip to the Exchange in Dublin with the Young Model group, and again for GradCam, Marketing Assistant Denise blogged about a Josh Ritter gig in October and Young Model group members Jason and Aengus wrote on their experiences of the young model programme and transition year work experience.
The blog was established in 2008 and celebrates its second birthday on April 16th. It also coincides with the first event to be held at the new Model building, the Sligo New Music Festival. Close to two hundred blog posts have been shared online with nearly 250 readers every day.
The Irish Blog Awards take place in the Radisson SAS in Galway this year on Saturday March 27th.
