All members of the Local Authority Professional Officers branch of SIPTU have been instructed to have no further contact with Councillor Bree with immediate effect, it was confirmed at Monday's council meeting.
County Manager Mr. Hubert Kearns told councillors there had been a letter from the LAPO (Local Authority Professional Officers) branch of SIPTU in relation to complaints by employees of Sligo county and borough councils against Clr. Declan Bree.
The letter stated that the LAPO branch was disappointed that the Council had decided to confine its instruction to have no contact with Clr. Bree to some members only in accordance with the recommendations of the investigators.
LAPO added: "For the reasons already stated, we do not accept that this course of action is sufficient in terms of the council's duty of care to all of our members. On a practical basis, the recommendation as it stands is also we believe unworkable.
"Consequently, we have decided to instruct all of our members that they are to have no further contact with Councillor Bree with immediate effect," the letter from LAPO concluded.
The letter, dated, January 28th, was from branch organiser, Maurice Hearne.
