Hill Walking festival set for Easter week-end

The North Leitrim Glens Hill Walking Festival takes place on Easter Weekend, April 3rd and 4th. All walks will take place in the North Leitrim Glens. Registration and Saturday evening dinner will be at The Granary Restaurant, Main Street, Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim.

All walks will take place in the magical North Leitrim Glens. Details of each walk will be provided on the morning of registration. Walks are at the leader's discretion and are weather dependant. Wonderful terrain is guaranteed whether it be the Leitrim drumlins, archaeological sites, seascapes, mountain lakes, heathery slopes or whin covered braes. There is good conversation, craic and friendliness for all to enjoy. THE WALKS Saturday 3rd April: Long Walk: This walk is relatively strenuous and for fit, experienced walkers. Height gained 600m, length of time on hills 6-7 hours. Distance 12km. Medium Walk: This walk is for walkers who prefer a shorter walk at a slightly slower pace. Height gained 600m, length of time on hills 5-6 hours. Distance 8km. Sunday 4th April: Long and medium walks, while in different hills each day, description is the same as on Saturday. Additionally on Sunday there will be a ramble, with bi-lingual commentary in Irish/English. Sunday Only Ramble: The ramble will start from the town and explore the adjacent countryside with its gentle slopes and magnificent views along lovely country boreens. The guide will provide information on archaeology and wildlife. Siúlóid: Tosnóidh an Siúlóid ón baile ag déanamh taiscéal ar an taobh tire tímpeallach, le fánaí réidh agus radharcanna ollásaigh ar feadh na bhóthairíní álainn. Cuirfidh an ceannaire eolas ar fáil faoi stair, seandálaíocht agus fiadhúlra na háite.
