Court clears way for late night bars during festival
Sligo's publicans have been granted exemptions to allow them stay open later during the Lissadell concerts this week-end.
An application in the name of Fiddler's Creek publican, Fergal Harrison on behalf of all licence holders in Sligo town was moved at Sligo District Court by Mr. Gerard McGovern, solicitor.
The application sought an order exempting the holders of licences in the locality of Fidder's Creek, namely Sligo town, allowing them to remain open until 2.30 a.m. on July 30th, 31st and August 1st next for the Lissadell music festival.
There was no objection by the Gardai and Judge Kevin Kilraine granted the exemption.
Also at the same court, the Judge granted Pod Entertainment Limited, Lower Leeson Street, Dublin 2, an occasional licence for the sale of alcohol at Lissadell House and Gardens, Ballinfull between the hours of 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. on July 30th, 31st and August 1st.
The application was made in the name of David Binchy and Co Solicitors, Dun Laoghaire. A letter from the Fire Officer outlining a number of conditions was handed into court.
Inspector Paul Kilcoyne said he had no objection and Judge Kilraine granted the application as per conditions set out in the fire officer's report.
