Sligo 'Rose' to march in New York parade
THE 2009 Sligo Rose, Sinead McGill, will travel to New York for St. Patrick's Day to participate in the city's parade, the largest civilian event of its kind in the world. Local people around Gurteen are proud of Sinead who has represented Sligo and her native Gurteen to the highest standard throughout the past year.

ICA: There will be a meeting of Gurteen ICA Guild in the Coleman Centre on this Thursday night, March 11th at 8 p.m. It is very important that all members attend.
DRAMA: Cloonacool Players present "A Wake in the West" Written by Michael Joe Ginnelly in Cloonacool Community Centre. This comedy tells the story of a wake, which takes place in a country house on the outskirts of a small town in the West of Ireland. But this wake is like no others with everyone getting in on the comedy. Performances on Friday March 26th, Saturday March 27th, and Sunday March 28th nightly at 8.30 pm.
CONGRATULATIONS: Well done to Gurteen U-15 badminton team that won the county final. They are wished the best of luck in the Connacht finals. BINGO is held in Gurteen Hall every Friday night at 8.30 pm. Usual big prizes to be won, and all proceeds go for upkeep of the Hall. Support would be greatly appreciated.
