Kevin Quinn Jnr., President of Sligo Chamber presents a cheque totalling 2,665 to Noreen McKenzie, National Manager for Volunteer Services, Make-A-Wish Foundation, from a charity collection which took place at the recent Sligo Chamber Annual Dinner.

Credit Union's tenth anniversary

SCHOOL: St. Patrick's National School, Ballyweelin, have organised a "Cash for Clobber" collection to raise funds for the School's activities. Please place any Second-hand clothes, shoes, textiles etc, in black sacks and leave them at the School by the Wednesday 25th November. UNITED: On Sunday 8th November, due to bad weather, the match between Maugherow United and Western Rovers was postponed. The match was rescheduled for last Sunday 15th November. The outcome as to whether the game was played and if it was, the result can be seen on the Sports Pages of this paper. CAR RALLY: The Connacht Motor Club Mini Stages Car Rally takes place on Sunday 29th November. A number of roads in Ballyconnell, Liggan, Carrigans, Cloonagh, Ardtrasna, Attyduff and Lislary will be closed from 10.15am to 3.30pm. People are advised to expect extra traffic in these areas on 28th & 29th November. Connacht Motor Club wish to thank all concerned for their cooperation in the running of this event. ARTS: The Maugherow Community Arts group met in the Carrigans Health Centre, Ballinfull, Last Thursday 12th November, and continued with their paintings. The group meets again on Thursday 26th November between 10.30am and 1.00pm TRUST: The Irish Pilgrimage Trust helps bring young people with special needs to Lourdes at Easter. There will be a Social Raffle in Sligo Southern Hotel next Friday 20th November. Music by Jack Ramsey Band and special guests. Admission 10euro. CREDIT: The North Sligo Credit Union Celebrates its 10th Anniversary next Friday, 20th November. People asked to come along and join the celebrations. Some lucky members may go away with a prize and every member will be welcome. It started in the modest setting of Grange's Community office with Frances Conway's Kitchen often being used to interview loan applicants. In March 2003 there was a move to the present premises in The Diamond. The Credit Union will take another step forward this month by opening more often. Starting from next, Friday 20th November, the Union will operate on two Consecutive days-Friday evening from 7pm to 9pm and Saturday morning from 11am to 1pm. SYMPATHY: Sincere condolences are expressed to the wife, Olive, sons and daughters and relatives of the retired, Canon Fred Gillmor, Strandhill, who died in a single car accident recently. His ceremonial funeral service was held in St.John's Cathedral, Sligo, on Thursday 12th November. Canon Gillmor on occasions held services in many places including the Drumcliffe Group of Parishes. BAZAAR: The Annual Lissadell Bazaar takes place on Friday 27th November, beginning at 9.00pm in the Lissadell Centre. Everyone is welcome along and grateful thanks are expressed, if you can bring gifts and saleable items with you. BAPTISM: Next Sunday 22nd November, in Lissadell Church, there will be a Holy Baptism of Abigail Clancy. RALLY: As the result of the Sligo Rally there will be no Morning Service in Lissadell Church on Sunday 29th November. SERVICES: Next Sunday 22nd November at 9.30am in the "Chapel of Ease", Munninane, a Holy Communion Service will be celebrated. At 10.45am in Lissadell Church and at 12noon in Drumcliffe Church, a Morning Prayer Service will be held.
