Henry retires after 47 years

A LONG and happy retirement is wished to Corney Henry, who hangs up his boots after 47 years service with Sligo County Council. Corney was the local waterworks caretaker. BAPTISM: Congratulations to Geraldine and Darren Reynolds, Carrontavey, on the baptism of their daughter Holly Marie. PIONEERS: Achonry Regional Pioneer Association will hold its annual dinner dance on Friday, March 12th in The Park Hotel, Kiltimagh at 8 p.m. Tickets €30. Anybody looking for tickets may contact Attracta Madden. THE GAELS: Well done to all the organisers, entertainers, sponsors and supporters from the Owenmore Gaels Club who were out in force last Friday night in Castle Dargan. The club fundraiser was a sell out and a very enjoyable event. Well done also to the U14 and U16 girls who were presented with their medals by Marty Morrissey on the night. The girls are still flying the flag for Owenmore Gaels and the club is wished a very successful 2010 on the playing field. SINGING: Traditional singing takes place in Durkin's, Ballinacarrow, tonight, Wednesday, March 10. New and visiting musicians also welcome. SYMPATHY: Sympathy is extended to the Lipsett family, Coolaney, on the recent death of Liam Lipsett, Snr. May he rest in peace.
