Fundraiser in advance of Teresa's return to housebuilding programme

A FUNDRAISING cake and book sale will be held in the Community Centre, Skreen, on Sunday, February 14th, at 12 noon. All funds raised will go to local born woman, Teresa Heerin (nee Mc Cloat), from Caltragh, Dromard, who has spent time, as a volunteer worker, in Haiti, in October of last year.

Teresa will be returning there again, on April 25th, to help with the ongoing house building programme.

This housing programme is now more than ever needed, after the recent devastation caused by the massive earthquake, which recently hit Haiti.

Donations of cakes and books will be deeply appreciated by the organisers of this event and these items can be left into the Community Centre, on the morning of the sale, from 10am.

THE LOCAL Church of Ireland parishioners thank everyone most sincerely for the support given, to their Fundraising New Year's Eve Dance, which was held in the Community Centre, Skreen. Special thanks go to those who sponsored the prizes for the raffle and spotprizes; to everyone who supplied the refreshments and to all who attended and made the event a great local parish night out. Due to the enjoyment and success of this local parish night, it is now proposed to make it an annual event. ENROLMENT is now taking place of children wishing to start school in High Park NS, in September 2010. Enrolment forms are now available from both the local Playschool and from High Park National School. The school contact telephone number is; (071) 9166891. The completed enrolment forms must be returned to the school by Wednesday, February 10th. SINCERE thanks to everyone who supported the recently held collections in aid of the St. Vincent de Paul Society; the Church gate collections on the week end of January 17th --raised €583.70 at Dromard Church and €774.50 at Skreen Church and the Christmas collection by the Fiddler's Elbow Pub and Friends which amounted to €1,071.00. Many thanks to everyone who supported this very worthy cause. THE LOCAL St. Pat's club are holding a celebratory dinner dance for Micheal Kearins, in the Sligo Park Hotel, on February 6th, at 8.30pm. The special guest speaker will be Micheal O'Muircheartaigh. Tickets are now on sale and cost €40.00. SET DANCING continues each Wednesday night, in the Community Centre, Skreen from 8.30pm to 10.30pm and beginners are very welcome. CIRCUIT TRAINING is held every Monday and Thursday night, from 8pm to 9pm at the Community Centre also and the cost is; €50 for ten sessions. BOYS BASKETBALL has now resumed and continues every Wednesday night at the Community Centre, from 6pm to 7pm. LADYBIRDS, Brownies and Guides continue every Thursday evening at the Community Centre and you are asked to note the new times of these meetings; 6pm to 7pm. THE LOCAL Skreen/Dromard 2010 Community Games entry forms, for all of this coming years competitions, are now in the local schools and shops. They should be completed immediately and returned.
