Double Silver for Riverstown
CONGRATULATIONS to the U12 Girls Skittles team who took silver at the National Community Games finals held in Athlone recently. The team included Amy McSharry, Sinead McGovern, Chloe Merrick, Joanne Johnston and Eilis O'Connor.
Well done to their coach, Ann Kelly. Congratulations also to the U14 Boys Olympic Handball team who also took silver at the Finals. The team includes Marc and Steven Keegan, Ciaran Kilfeather, Daniel Willis, Paul Higgins, Caolan McCann, Micheal Kilkenny, Mark Walsh and Paul Quigley. Well done to their coaches Sean McDermott and John Óg Conlon. Well done also to Bronagh and Dualtagh Holms who took part in the U8 and U10 swimming finals.
THE RIVERSTOWN community would like to say well done to all the local students who recently received the results of their Leaving Certificate exams and wish them all the best in the future. Coola Secondary School will be opening for 1st year students on Friday, August 27. On Monday school will be open for all students except 3rd and 5th year who will attend on Tuesday, August 31. THE DOMESTIC Violence Advocacy Service in Sligo town will be holding a two-day training course on identifying and responding to women experiencing domestic violence. RIVERBROOKE CrossBorder Initiative are currently recruiting young people in the 17 to 25 age group to participate in a study of sectarianism and its effects on young people north and south of the border. The Study will include one day in Sligo, one day in Brookeborough, County Fermanagh, a weekend in Belfast and a weekend in Derry during September and October. There will be a mix of traditions both political and religious participating in the study. This is a great opportunity to both learn and share. All travel, food and accommodation costs will be covered by Riverbrooke.
