Christmas party time… in March!
FOR those senior citizens living in the area, during week commencing March 8th you will be receiving an invitation to our re-scheduled party that was postponed at Christmas due to the bad weather. This is now taking place on Sunday March 21st. MEETING with Minister: On Thursday March 11th the Minister for Older People and Health Promotion is holding a meeting in Sligo Park Hotel from 2-4p.m. If you are interested in attending or would like further information, please telephone the centre on 914 6512. THE MCR 200 Club draw results were as follows: 1st Prize €100, Tommy and Theresa Rooney; 2nd Prize €50, Joe Morrison; 3rd Prize €25, Sarah and Brian Marshall; 4th Prize €25, Charlotte Cullen. BINGO: Please come along and support your local Community Centre. There is bingo and the 200 Club Draw every Wednesday night at 9 pm. If you wish to join the MCR draw then talk to Gerry on a Wednesday night and support your community. MCR Afterschool Project: Places are still available in our Afterschool Project, which is for Primary School Age Children ranging in age from 4-12 years of age. Please contact Lisa or Lizzie on 91-46512 or mcrafterschool@yahoo.ie. ACTIVE AGE: The group continues to meet on a Tuesday morning at 11.30 a.m. and new members are always welcome. Currently the group is enjoying curling, with a six-week course on photography for beginners commencing shortly. Please telephone the centre if you are interested in this. MCR Quiz Night, a fundraiser that promises to be great fun. Watch this space for further information. MEN'S GROUP: We now have funding to establish a men's group, and would like your views and ideas on activities that could be included. PERSONAL ALARMS: we are once again in a position to apply for funding under the Scheme of Community Support for Older People, and would like to hear from any senior citizens in the area who feel they would benefit from having a personal alarm, home security device etc. Please call the centre on 914 6512 for further details or to register your name. The closing date for applications is Friday March 12th. VOLUNTEERS: if you are interested in becoming a volunteer at the MCR Community Centre, there are currently some vacancies.
