Certificates presented at Sligo Volunteer Centre

Sligo Volunteer Centre presented certificates on Firday last to participants who successfully completed Volunteer Management Training. Volunteer Management Training is an initiative being rolled out around Ireland to support local community organisations that have, or hope to have, volunteers involved with their groups in their community. The training helps managers, coordinators and volunteers to have in place structures that enable volunteers and organisations get the best out of the time they spend together.
The Volunteer Centre was delighted to welcome Marian Harkin MEP who presented the certificates.
"These certificates clearly demonstrate your commitment to ensuring that volunteer organisations provides the best possible opportunities and supports for its volunteers. Volunteer Management is a relatively new concept and in the past many organisations relied on more informal structures, systems and relationships, however in more recent times many organisations are putting in place more formal structures which help both the organisation and the volunteers to work better together," she said.
Sligo Volunteer Centre will be offering another round of Volunteer Management Training in March to more community organisations.
Congratulations are extended to the above Aengus Sheerin, Volunteer Coordinator with Special Olympics, Marion Dunleavy, Volunteer Coordinator with The Model Arts & Niland Gallery, Emer Marron, General Manager with The Model Arts & Niland Gallery, Mary Kilroy, Community Development Worker with Tubbercurry Family Resource Centre, Martina Cunnane, Assistant Coordinator with Sligo Social Services and Anne Mariee Ellison, General Manager of North West Hospice who completed the Volunteer Management Training in December.
