BOYLE'S ANNUAL parade will take place on Wednesday, March 17th at 3.30pm.

The committee has announced the following prizes. (1) Overall Prize €500 + cup. (2) Runner Up €300. (3) Third Prize €200. (4) Funniest €200. (5) Junior (under 16) €200. (6) Junior Runner up €100. (7) Best Shop Window Display €150 + Cup.

There is a new category included this year, Best Heritage / Traditional so there is plenty of scope for all businesses, clubs etc to participate.

Meanwhile, following the huge success of the Aughanagh Parish, St Patrick's Day and Family Fun Day last year, Ballinafad village will be hosting a spectacular event once again on St. Patrick's Day kicking off at 1.00 p.m. with many events such as tractor pulling, penalty shoot outs, bouncy castles, face painting, wheel barrow races etc. The popular radio station I102.104 will be there on the day broadcasting live from the village and all proceeds will be going towards the new community pitch in Ballinafad and Western Alzheimers. BOYLE SUMMER SHOW: A fundraising table quiz will take place on Thursday, March 11th, in Daly's Bar, Boyle at 9pm. Proceeds of the night will go towards funds for the Boyle Summer Show. A table of four costs €20. Quiz Master on the night, Matt Burke DANCING AT LUGHNAS: The highly regarded Splódor Theatre Company, from Leitrim, comes to perform the Brian Friel classic 'Dancing at Lughnasa' in St. Joseph's Hall, Boyle on Saturday March the 13th. BOYLE CAMERA: Club members get together next on Tuesday, March 9th, when Sean Kennedy of Dublin Camera Club will give a talk about black and white photography. New members are always welcome. All you need is an interest in digital photography, access to the internet and a mobile phone to receive text messages. CURLEW WALKERS: Next walk on Saturday March 13th and Sunday 14th, meet at 9am on the Crescent, Boyle. The walk will take place on Muckish and Errigal Mountains. Grade A B&C. BOYLE GOLF CLUB: Sunday 28th Feb - 18-hole stableford was won by Paddy McLoughlin with 43pts, 2nd Michael Rush 40pts (countback), Gross Charlie O Donnell and 3rd Gerry Emmett 40pts. The draw for the Spring League took place on that Sunday with the first round starting on the weekend of 13th/14th March, play Saturday or Sunday. Ladies nine-hole competition continues each week, play any day while the rain stays away. Results so far, week November 29th, 1st Phil Emmet, week December 13th, 1st Joyce Boles, 2nd Liz Dwyer, week February 14th, 1st Tish Perry, 2nd Peggy Feely, Week February 21st 1st Phil Emmet, 2nd Joey Mullaney. Band practice is each Saturday morning in Abbey Community College. To join, come to a practice any Saturday morning along with a parent, or contact one of the committee - Marie Kennedy, Pat Conroy, Marie King or Mary McLoughlin. BOYLE ACTIVE AGE GROUP: Boyle Active Age group is seeking new members. They meet every Saturday at 2.30pm in Boyle Clinic, The Crescent, with various activities, events, trips, bingo there is always something going on, so do come along, all are very welcome. BOYLE ACTIVE AGE HOLIDAY: The date for this year's holiday is Mon May 31st until Fri June 4th. Members and friends will stay at the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny. Day tours are arranged for the American Folk Park in Omagh, Derry City for sightseeing & shopping and sightseeing of the Innishowan Penninsula and North Donegal. Details can be obtained from Margaret on 087 2095219. Non members are very welcome too. TREES AVAILABLE: This year National Tree Week will take place from March 7TH to 13TH 2010. A limited number of trees will be made available from the Tree Council of Ireland to Roscommon County Council for distribution to Community Groups and Schools. If your group/school is interested in applying for trees then you should apply to the Environment Section, Roscommon County Council, Roscommon West Business Park, Circular Rd, Roscommon before 26th February, 2010. Every effort will be made to facilitate all who apply, but please note that the number of trees available, are limited. WEEKLY BINGO: Bingo continues in St Joseph's Hall, Boyle every Tuesday night. There is a 1,000 euro jackpot up for grabs. Everyone is welcome. Start time is 8.30pm sharp. BOYLE SINGERS NIGHT: Takes place in Dodd's bar, The Crescent, Boyle, on Saturday Mar 20th, as always, singers and listeners gather from 10pm onwards for all kinds of informal singing, English and Irish traditional included, mostly unaccompanied. CHILDCARE FIRST AID COURSE: Michael ( Sam) Casey will run a Childcare First Aid Course in the Moylurg room in the Lough Key Forest and Activity Park on Sunday, March 28th. The course is designed for parents / childminders / babysitters. It will cover all aspects of First Aid and Life Saving Procedures for the infant and Child.
