After almost a decade in self-imposed solo exile, Lloyd Cole developed an itch to be back on the road with other musicians, he missed the interaction, the camaraderie and the joy of performing before a live audience. For more details log onto www.sligolive.ie The latest study by business group Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) shows Sligo maintaining its 'litter free' status from last year, in 11th position out of 53 towns surveyed. A fall in the number of litter-free towns has prompted IBAL to call on businesses to clean up outside their premises twice a day to improve our streetscapes.

Meanwhile, Sligo citizens are invited to submit photos by mobile phone of litter blackspots in their neighbourhood as part of a "litter twitter" campaign to alert local authorities to litter-ridden areas locally. "This is the perfect technology through which people can highlight areas that urgently need cleaning up," explained Dr Tom Cavanagh, Chairman of IBAL.
