Three held over policeman's murder

Tuesday February 09 2010

Police are questioning two men and a woman over last March's murder of a policeman in Northern Ireland.

Pc Stephen Carroll, 48, was gunned down as he answered a call-out in Craigavon, Co Armagh. The Continuity IRA later claimed responsibility for his death.

Detectives from the PSNI's serious crime branch said they had detained a 40-year-old man in Lurgan, Co Armagh and a 36-year-old man and 37-year-old woman in Craigavon.

Pc Carroll was killed two days after the Real IRA shot dead two soldiers outside Massereene Barracks in Antrim.

A teenager and a 38-year-old man have previously been remanded in custody charged with the murder.
